Believed to be an incarnation of Shri Dattatreya the name of this spiritual master, popularly called Swami Samarth, is a household word in Maharashtra and the region around. As this Perfect Master chose to reside at a place called Akkalkot for 22 years where he took Mahasamadhi (left his mortal body) in 1878, he is also known as the Maharaj of Akkalkot, Akkalkot is situated in district Solapur of Maharashtra state of India.
He has been granting His darshan to His devotees even today.He is the uncreated Creator, the One without second. Words are powerless to describe His prowess. He is reverrred as the teacher of all spiritual teachers (gurunam guruh). He is a direct incarnation of Supreme Consciousness or Para Brahman. Shri Swami Samarth has adorned a human garment merely to grant benedictions and blessings on all who come in contact with Him. He is measureless compassion and limitless ananda (bliss). He radiates unalloyed love and His heart melts at the faintest trace of unconditional devotion for God. Shri Swami Samartha can instantly grant incessant supreme divine joy on whomever He chooses. His assurance: "Fear not , I am always with you!!" He says, "Surrender your ego and offer your unconditional love and I will fill you with immortal bliss". His simple philosophy , "Harm no one, joy to every one. Inside every one, I am the only One!!"
